Ecolab and Green Key x Lobster Ink: foster sustainability through online training

Ecolab has partnered with Green Key and Lobster Ink, an esteemed online training provider, to create impactful online sustainability training tailored for hotels teams.

March 08, 2024

According to a survey commissioned by the European Commission*, 82% of European citizens are willing to change at least some of their travel and tourism habits to become more sustainable. That's why Green Key and Ecolab have decided to continue their partnership to promote sustainability in the hotel industry.
For more than 100 years, customers have come to expect Ecolab to develop innovations that improve their operations, reduce business risk and lead the industry. Ecolab supports the hospitality industry's efforts to implement the highest standards of sustainability by partnering with companies, charting sustainable operations and support them all the way to achieve their sustainability goals together.

The partnership with Green Key and Lobster Ink will promote the use of sustainable solutions in hotels and restaurants across Europe through an online training program which includes seven key topics divided in 4 modules that cover various aspects of sustainability pertinent to the hospitality industry. Addressing managers and frontline staff, these courses give practical insights on the importance of planning and communicating sustainability, on how to prompt waste reduction, energy conservation and responsible consumption. This should help tourism businesses achieve their sustainability goals and the Green Key certification.

The Green Key certificate is the leading standard for excellence in the field of environmental responsibility and sustainable operation within the tourism industry. Green Key has validated more than 5,000 establishments in 60+ countries, making it one of the largest international tourism eco-certificates for tourism accommodation. The Green Key certificate is valid for 12 months and must consequently be renewed annually.

“At Ecolab, thanks to the expertise of our territory managers, we know the importance of training teams to improve customers’ operations. We are thrilled of our collaboration with Lobster ink and sustainable hospitality specialists from Green Key that has led to a fantastic e-learning program that will help hotel staff to be more sustainable.”
